Your Team Mom's Two Cents (for what it's worth)...
Dear Bantam Wrestling Parents,
On behalf of the Bantam coaches and your other team mom, Sue, I’d like to thank all of you for an awesome season. Though I am quite sure that Coach John will be sending an e-mail out shortly extending his gratitude, I wanted to throw my two cents in too. Your dedication in getting your son(s) to practice day in and day out in addition to getting up at an ungodly hour on Sunday mornings to get your son(s) to a competition have solidified your roll as part of the Bulldog Wrestling Family. I hope that we have welcomed you warmly and have been able to make you feel like you are part of this family. I also truly hope that your son(s) will continue his (their) journey and progress as a Bulldog wrestler by returning to us next season.
I want to thank you for the pleasure of being one of your Team Mom’s this year (this was my first year), I hope to have the privileged opportunity to do it again next year. And it is my hope that by then I will be able to retain and recall more of your last names by facial recognition (I swear, I have been working on it).
For those of you who may be tentative about joining us again next season, for whatever reason, I just want to say that I have been there. Last year was my oldest sons’ first year wrestling, he was 9. I understand the difficulty that you may have had this season seeing your child wrestle against more experienced boys, be taken down match after match, show frustration in not winning, having them be humbled by knowing that their win (or loss) is entirely on them, having them cry and swear off wrestling ever again, or show little to no interest in taking this seriously. I was relieved to be told on two different occasions by two different people that the first year is always rough, that their sons had gone through similar things, that they will get better as they continue on. There is truth in this and is why both of my boys will be back next season. I see this sport as one of progress, instant perfection is highly unlikely. Your sons’ continual involvement will allow him to progress and get more comfortable, self-confident, experienced and improve his skills.
Thank you,
Stephanie Kush
